In 2022 we are witnessing a proliferation of NFT in different spheres — not only in “typical” for this market art, design and gaming but also in the event industry, brand marketing, retail. Another feature — is “social media NFTs” which means the implementation of NFTs in social networks. Great examples — Twitter, Discord, Instagram, Behance.

We decided to make a brief review of NFT implementation cases in social media to understand the importance and perspectives of this sphere in digital reality.

Twitter

It all started with Twitter which released a paid-subscription service called Twitter blue. One of its most innovative features, known as NFT Profile Pictures, allows iOS users to connect their crypto wallet and choose an NFT to upload as their profile pic.

After connecting the wallet, subscribers can choose an NFT as their profile picture. So now all the owners of The Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs know where to show them.

Meta

Meta also stands at the forefront of the NFT movement.

Aigerim Shorman, General Manager for Avatars and Identity said that “VR and Quest are key parts of our metaverse vision, but we see the metaverse as an interconnected digital world, one that bridges VR and AR, in addition to more familiar platforms like your phone and computer. Rolling out avatars across our platforms is an early step towards making this a reality.

Taking into account that metaverse is the cornerstone of all Zuckerberg’s companies, the interest of Meta in NFT is absolutely logical.

In the future, Meta plans to integrate NFT technology both to Facebook and Instagram. Now you can upload your NFT to the platform after proceeding a few steps, including downloading the item to your computer and subsequently to your Instagram account to upload.

YouTube support of NFT creators

Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube, in her letter ‘Our 2022 priorities’ stated that expanding the YouTube ecosystem to help creators capitalize on emerging technologies, including things like NFTs. This step is supposed to strengthen the creators on this platform and enhance their self-expression.

Moreover, fans will be able to own unique videos, photos, art, and even experiences from their subscribed channels.

Discord

At the moment, Discord is one of the biggest NFT promo platforms. In 2022, there are a lot of Discord Servers where enthusiasts can discuss and promote their items.

The most popular and useful are:

OpenSea

Enter

CryptoBaristas

Rarible

VeeFriends

Here you can self-promote your NFTs, discuss them and find topic discussions about famous NFT collections.

Behance

To share your NFT on Behance you must add your crypto wallet provided by MetaMask or Phantom connected to your AdobeID.

Currently, Behance supports Ethereum and Solana-based blockchains, so keep it in mind before purchasing any NFT.

To date, there are a lot of ways to promote and use your NFTs. However, users doubt the importance of this innovation. For instance, Twitter users don’t fully appreciate segregation based on the avatar principle.
